A Few New Photos

We took a couple of new photos of Aiden today.  He weights close to 9 lbs today.  Finally figured out a couple of new camera settings today. Better ones to follow..

Apple Pie

I was in a cooking mood yesterday. By the end of the evening there were three homemade apple pies and about 10 lbs of beef stew.  The most I've ever cooked in my life. This should keep stomachs full for a while.

A photo of the pie is included, although mom could not help taking an early bite. Ignore the dishes in the background.

Two Weeks In

Two weeks in Aiden and his parents are sleeping better. Mom is feeling better.

Aiden had his doctor visit today. No surprise clean bill of health.

He weighted 8 lbs 8 1/2 ozs
His length was 21.5" (about 1 inch a week)

He's growing quick.

Slight delay in hospital discharge

Night two went well for Aiden and Mom.  Aiden is very slightly yellow today as the bilirubin builds up. The concentration is about 9 mg/dL which is below the threashold of 12 mg/dL for his age of 40 hours.  The count should peak in a few days and return to normal. Mom is doing well too, needs to continue eating.  Platelet count is a little low.  Drs will check again this afternoon after iron pill.

The Official Arrival

The health baby boy came at 5:16 pm on August 15.  Aiden the prize fighter weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz.  More vital statistics to follow. Mom and baby are doing very well.  The most painful part for dad was to see a few unsuccessful attemps to draw a vial of blood from the very precious child.  Second attempt went better.  The poor kid could be a model for Band-aid given the 4 round patches.

Aiden's Lecture

Late Sunday night Aiden in his mother's belly received a lecture. "Aiden ready to get with the program?  It's time to get going ahead of Tuesday" with a belly rub for effect.  Mom understood Aiden's response with a kick.

Sonogram Today - Confirmation of a Big Baby

Sonogram went well! Baby is estimated to be 4.14 kg or 9.125 lbs (+/- 1 lb).

Having Twins !? - No, Just Overdue

A large belly is like walking a dog; instant conservation starter.  More rational folks think, "Oh, you have a big baby."  Today in Target people concluded that we were expecting twins.  I guess the belly no longer looks round.

Doctors on Vacation - Do It Yourself Childbirth

Doctor checkup today went well.  There is one complication, the doctors are on vacation.  To be scheduled for an induction you have to schedule a sonogram, see the doctor, and schedule the hospital.

Example:
 1. Sonogram is only available on Friday or Tuesday.
 2. Doctor available 60 miles north or on Tuesday.
 3. Hospital can not be scheduled because the assigned drs. are on vacation.

Lovely. But in honestly no worries. I don't think we will get refused at the hospital.

Alternatively, we found a couple of great internet guides to in home care.

Officially Late - August 8 Came and Went

Mom and baby are doing well.  The baby is officially late.

Mom walked for 2-hrs on the trendmill this weekend and again on Monday.

Ready For Last Day at Work

One more day in the office tomorrow. 

5 More Days To Go Until the Due Date!

Mom is interested in a walk is evening ... The motivation is for some chocolate at the near by grocery store :)  Sounds like a good trade.

The Nursery

Is it nesting or are we just late finishing off the nursery?  It was time to attach the monkey decals.

Mom is finishing her quality assurance inspection.  Wall decals and the mobile are secure.
